The Dovecote

Originally made, to house live doves, from the offcuts of a new bathroom floor, it was never successful due to a prowling pussy, plus the fact that the birds felt safer roosting on the security light and burglar alarm! Clay doves were sculpted and installed above the cote but were blown down, so more doves were made, fired to 1,300 degrees centigrade, painted with several coats of masonry paint and drilled and secured with metal rods. The cote support was then drilled and the rods inserted at varying angles to give the effect of the birds flying away. The whole group has proved extremely popular with visitors.
